The barn

Firstly – What is a Camping Barn? and what to expect.

A Camping Barn is also known as a “stone tent” you will need to bring everything you need as if you were going to spend the night in a tent (but without the tent!). However Dale House Camping Barn will offer you a few more creature comforts. You can be guaranteed a very memorable stay in an area that is not only unique but absolutely breath-taking.

A bit about the barn
The 400 year old barn has been sympathetically converted and offers simple and practical accommodation for group occupancy (maximum 14 people), whilst keeping its rustic and enchanting feeling. Unlike most camping barns we provide mattresses or you are welcome to bring your own roll mat or camp bed.  On entering you will see the original flagged floors, beams and exposed stone walls, a huge log burner, large dining table and 2 sofas. There is a separate fitted kitchen with hob, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle and toaster. We provide all cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery and there is also a cafetiere. Please note there is no oven.

There are two showers with continuous hot water (we do not meter hot water and electricity). There are also two toilets, one with disabled access.

Heating is a log burner situated in the middle of the open plan barn and also 4 old fashioned roll top radiators powered by the newly installed bio mass boiler. The radiators are on in the winter months in the mornings and evenings. We include a basket of wood per day in the price and charge £5.00 for additional baskets The fire will be laid for you upon arrival and you will be provided with kindling and other fire lighting materials if you are staying for more than one night. There are two sleeping areas with mattresses on mezzanine floors with large windows looking out on the stunning scenery. In the summer you will enjoy soaking up the warm sun or a BBQ in our south facing garden overlooking the wild flower meadow.

The barn which is attached to the farmhouse overlooks the picturesque scenery of Stocks Reservoir and Gisburn Forest – the largest body of water in Bowland and the largest forest in Lancashire.

The barn costs £185 per night at weekends and must be booked for a minimum of 2 nights from 31st March - 1st October. During the week the barn can be booked for for smaller groups (up to 6 people) for £100 per night (please note there may be another group in the barn). For groups larger than 6 it must be booked sole occupancy. Please contact us through our booking page for availability and to reserve your dates.
New years eve - the barn is available for a minumum stay of 2 nights over new years eve at a cost of £500. (either 30th & 31st December or 31st Dec and 1st Jan)

A maximum of 2 dogs are permitted in the barn by prior arrangement, but must be kept on a lead and under full control at all times.
